Swettenham shuttler Equiano notched his latest black-type result when Fly On The Night won the LR Premio Alessandro Perrone (1100m) in Rome on Tuesday.
The unbeaten filly scored by a length from La Vacanza (Aussie Rules). She had won on debut in the Premio Marguerite Vernaut (1000m) at the Capannelle on May 1.
Fly On The Night (2f Equiano - Midnight M by Green Desert) is from a half-sister to G3 Ballyogan Stakes winner Miss Anabaa and the dam of L
R Sweet Mimosa Stakes winner Minalisa.
Equiano (Fr) is one of Europe’s leading second-season sires with 17 individual winners this year. His brilliant three year-old colt Strath Burn earned more black-type with a last-start placing in the LR Westow Stakes at York and Qatar Racing has him nominated for the G1 July Cup at Newmarket.
Swettenham Stud will stand Equiano for a $13,750 (inc gst) fee this year.
