Mares in foal to Swettenham Stud shuttler Toronado (Ire) have been in demand at the Tattersalls and Arqana December Sales
Toronado covered a full northern book at the English National Stud earlier this year following a brilliant career for Al Shaqab Racing. He won the G2 Champagne Stakes at two before training on for Group 1 victories in the Sussex Stakes and Queen Anne Stakes as a three and four year-old.
Infamous Angel (pictured) is by Exceed And Excel and was among the mares catalogued at Tattersalls. She’s due to deliver a Toronado foal in January and was purchased by leading agents Peter & Ross Doyle for 60,000gns (AUD 130,055).
Infamous Angel was trained by Richard Hannon and won the G2 Lowther Stakes at Newmarket. Her filly Alpine Dream (Dream Ahead) claimed a Thirsk nursery on debut in August and she has a rising 2yo colt by Lawman.
In France, Paris Rose (Cape Cross) sold for 82,000 euros (AUD 121,740) with a positive to Toronado on an early March cover. She was prepared by William Haggas for wins at Newmarket and Redcar before bowing out with a black-type placing at Munich in October 2014.
Toronado (High Chaparral) is currently finishing a quality book of 160 mares at Swettenham before returning to the English National Stud later this month.
