Swettenham Stud finished the Inglis Great Southern Sale with a 94% clearance rate for its foals at Oaklands this week.
Topping the list was an Akeed Mofeed (GB) colt from the Swettenham Breeding Venture mare Video Star. He was purchased by NSW pin-hooker Tony Clift for $120,000.
Video Star (Quest For Fame) won a LR Warrnambool Cup (2360m) and VRC Roy Higgins Quality (2500m) at Flemington. She has a yearling colt by Equiano with Mornington trainer Kane Harris and was bred back to Toronado in November.
Top-price among the Swettenham mares that found new homes at Oaklands was Fastnet Rock 6yo Demasheen. She was sold in foal to Toronado and was purchased by Brett Howard of Randwick Bloodstock for $75,000.
Demasheen won at Caulfield and Morphettville for the late Phil Sly and her Equiano yearling colt made $160,000 to Aquis Farm at the Melbourne Premier Sale in March.
Earlier this month, Swettenham sold Sly’s mare Vamoose (Jpn) for $340,000 at the Magic Millions National Sale. She’s a half-sister to Caulfield Cup winner Admire Rakti and was sold in foal to Japanese Horse of the Year Lord Kanaloa.
