In a coup for Swettenham Stud’s new sire Trust In A Gust, Love and Emotion (the dam of French Emotion) has been booked in to him this season.

Millford Thoroughbreds product French Emotion scored a career highlight at Flemington on Sunday taking out $200,000 Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1400m) for mares.

It was a first stakes win for the Chris Waller trained mare who is owned by her breeders Valda Klaric & Ivan Cajkusic.

The win rounded out a good weekend for Valda and Ivan with another of their mares raised at Millford Thoroughbreds, Kaniana, coming second in the Group 2 Stocks Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

“It was a tremendous thrill … I certainly haven’t had a weekend like that for a while,” Klaric enthused.

“French Emotion really had to do it the hard way, coming from barrier 16 and I knew we’d need some luck.”

French Emotion has raced 16 times for five wins and eight placings and is likely to head towards the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on Derby Day. Meanwhile, the Weir trained Kaniana has chalked up more than $150,000 in earnings.

French Emotion is out of the Woodman mare Love and Emotion. She is also the dam of the speedy Love for Ransom (Currently in foal to Toronado) who was formerly trained by Greg Eurell to run in a Thousand Guineas.
