Sunshine Coast trainer Stuart Kendrick was rapt to buy an Americain colt for $80,000 at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale on Tuesday.

Swettenham Stud’s Group 1 freshman sired him from Year Of The Cat (NZ). “He was one of the nicest types on the grounds and I loved his breeze-up,” Kendrick said. “He’s just about sold among my clients.”

Kendrick won the 2015-16 Queensland Provincial Trainers’ Premiership with 58 wins at a top strike-rate of 18%.

“I did hear good things about the Americains when I was in Melbourne last week,” he said. “And Adam Sangster told me after the sale that trainers down south really like them.”

Trainers like Stuart Gandy who is prepping Americain colt Geegee Blackprince for Tasmania’s premier owner Paul Geard.

“Geegee Blackprince is a natural and is the nicest thoroughbred I’ve ever broken-in,” Gandy claimed. “He’s just come back into work after a fortnight in the paddock and, all going well, will start in the Debutante Stakes next month.

“I won’t need to trial him again – he’s doing everything right. He knows how to hit the line and will eventually get over a trip.”

Geard added another Americain to his arsenal when parting with $60,000 for the colt from Zadiamond (NZ) (PICTURED: Americain – Zadiamond colt breezes at Cranbourne at the Ready2Race Sale.) The chestnut appeared to be in cruise control during his breeze-up in 10.91s at Cranbourne.

“Paul is an Americain fan,” Gandy said. “He has two yearlings by Americain plus more mares ready to foal to him. And Geegee Blackprince is from his best broodmare La Quita.”

Americain (USA) stands at Swettenham Stud for a $13,750 (inc gst) service fee. For bookings or further information, breeders should contact Brian Gorman (0429 660 266) or Rachel Spriggens (0439 101 195).
