There are going to be post race festivities tonight after the very promising daughter of Master Of Design, Creativity put in a dominate performance tonight at Cranbourne in the De Bortoli Wines Maiden Plate over 1200m.

The talented 3-year-old filly trained by Ellerton Zahra Racing has already showed that she has plenty of ability when placing at her first start in the Listed VRC Festival of Racing Stakes.

But since then it has been a long journey with Creativity only having three career starts due to barrier problems.

“She has shown all this ability for 12 months and not getting her to race has been frustrating.” Co-trainer Simon Zahra said.

“It’s been a long journey and we must thank everyone at Flemington that has helped us out – Glen, does a wonderful job with these types of horses. Drinks are on us”

Jockey Damian Lane speaking post-race, “She had a little rear behind the barriers, she’s smart, she knows when it is race day, but we have great barrier staff in Victoria and they worked their magic and once loaded she was as good as gold.”

Jumping well, Lane got her to settle beautifully under him. “She’s a pretty smart horse, a superior horse in this field, and I rode her that way. When the speed came, I let her flow into the race three deep and she was just too good.”

Creativity is owned by Barry and Midge Griffiths who also own stable star Heatherly. “Barry has got extremely frustrated to the point of wanting to sell her but hopefully we can repay him from here on in.”

With high hopes for her, Zahra is not so much looking to her next race as much as keeping her in a positive frame of mind.

“With tonight being a good experience for her, the key is to keep her happy and not put her under too much pressure mentally. We will find a nice path, get a few more wins on the board, and keep her racing. She relaxed really nicely tonight and she will get a bit more ground in time.”

Being very active at the sales last week at Inglis Premier, Ellerton Zahra Racing has invested strongly in the family. Creativity is by Master Of Design from the More Than Ready mare, Voltaire. EZ Racing purchased her promising half sister out of the sale and also have the half brother called Exceltara.

“That’s how much we think of her and the family” Zahra said.

Voltara was covered by Swettenham’s brilliant UK miler Toronado last season.
