When Swettenham Stud sire Americain won the 2010 Melbourne Cup, it put a seal of greatness on Dynaformer as a world class sire, and with the recent Group 1 Doncaster champion, It’s Somewhat, it proves he is still an exceptional influence in Australian racing.

A son of the instrumental Roberto, he has achieved outstanding results in Australia as seen in the statistics. With only 17 runners he has reached an incredible strike rate of 13 winners.

With 51 wins on the board, significantly 14 of these have been in stakes races, accumulating earnings of over $10.2 million dollars.

Top prize money earners include Swettenham Stud’s sire, the Group 1 Melbourne Cup winner, Americain with $5.9 million, recent ATC Group 1 Doncaster winner It’s Somewhat, with $2.8 million and Group 3 Geelong and Sandown Cup winner Almoonqith on $950,000.

Dynaformer has a classic pedigree of an era gone by that placed a huge emphasis on class and stamina, with a proven his ability to sire progeny that could race on turf, and over a distance.

From over ninety stakes winners to date, no less than 64 winners were on grass tracks, an indication of his exceptional strike rate in Australia.

Being a good stayer himself, he handled grass tracks well and has passed on this quality to his magnificent son and now sire, Americain. There is no doubt that Americain’s sons and daughters will be high-class, successful and importantly, love Australian racing conditions.

Dynaformer's runners have has exceptional versatility. They are able to compete with success over 1600m or stretch out to win over longer trips like the Melbourne Cup. The typical Dynaformer develops as a three-year-old, but commonly his progeny triumph in group races as juveniles.

In the beginning, Dynaformer originally stood at Nathan Fox’s Wafare Farm for a small fee of only US$2,500. A son of Epsom Derby winner Roberto out of Group 1 winner Andover Way, by His Majesty, Dynaformer was a dual G2 winner of the Jersey Derby and the Discovery Handicap. Dynaformer deservedly completed his breeding career on the hard-earned sum of US$150,000 at Three Chimneys, Kentucky, passing away in 2012.

He demonstrated that he was as tough as he was talented. With his magnificent physique and strong pedigree, he had done more than enough to earn himself a place at stud, even if he did not have the credentials to start his stud career at the height of fashion.

As a sire, Dynaformer's was given a kick-start when his first crop produced top two-year-old Blumin Affair, and the tough Group 3 winning filly Rabiadella. This success introduced Dynaformer to a wider audience and he consequently began to receive superior mares in greater numbers with his results becoming dependably good.

With 26 Group 1 winners, top-class progeny to date outside Australia includes sensational Group 1 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro, St Leger winner Lucarno, three time Group 1 winner Point Of Entry and Group 1 winning US racemares Riskaverse, Film Maker, Dynaforce, Critical Eye, Collect The Cash, Gozzip Girl, Harmonious, Sand Springs and Starrer.

UK Group 1 winning fillies include Rainbow View and White Moonstone. He has produced dual European classic three-time Group 1 winner Blue Bunting and Group 1 winners Brilliant Speed, Vergennes, Perfect Drift, the turf miler Purim and German Derby Winner Wiener Walzer.

Dynaformer is sure to continue to consolidate his reputation as a broodmare sire having produced over 80 female stakes winners, known for their soundness and for their heart. His daughters will play an ever-increasing part in continuing his story.

While it's no secret that the big 17h bay with an "I'm the boss" attitude knows how make a determined runner, Dynaformer's sire Roberto was also in a class of his own.

Being one of the best horses to have raced in Europe during the 1970s, he proved a terrific stallion and was admired all around the world. Dynaformer emulated his father Roberto, who sired the Melbourne Cup winner At Talaq, by producing Americain.

Kentucky-bred At Talaq also loved the Australian racing environment with wins in the Group 1 Melbourne Cup, and the Group 1 McKinnon Stakes, before having successful stud career. As a sire, he showed his ability for producing high-class, tough horses that stayed.

Americain is earmarked to certainly fill a niche for the Roberto sire line, appealing to breeders seeking to infuse stamina in their stock without losing too much in the way of speed.

Americain is from the Group 2 and 3 winning mare America who raced in France. A half-sister to two stakes winners, she is by Arazi the world champion juvenile of 1991. Arazi stood for seven seasons at Mike Becker’s Independent Stallions at Euroa in Victoria.

Out of a mare by the Nijinsky sire Green Dancer, Americain’s dam traces way back along the bottom line to one of the world’s most historic broodmares, Chelandry, ancestress of the Australian sires Yarraman Park’s I Am Invincible and Larneuk Stud’s O’Lonhro. The family also includes early Australian stars Flight and her grandsons Sky High and Skyline and seven times champion Australian sire Heroic. A grandson of Chelandry, Heroic sired 1933 Melbourne Cup winner Hall Mark.

Trained by Frenchman Alain De Royer-Dupre, Americain was a proficient performer in France, winning six races from 1400m at two, to the Group 2 Prix Kergorlay over 3000m. He won the Group 3 Geelong Cup and Group 1 Melbourne Cup in 2010, placing fourth in the Cup the following year and went on to win dual Group 2 Drake International and the Zipping Classic. Americain was named champion stayer in Australia in 2011 and also Champion French high-weight older male in the 14 furlong-plus category.

Americain's amazing ability to stay was more impressive with the ability to quicken well at the end of a long race. In the Geelong Cup he demonstrated surprising agility for a horse of his size and stride to get up and win after being blocked and hampered repeatedly during the final 600m. That kind of athleticism is valuable in any racehorse regardless of the distance contested.

Americain is a stunning looking individual, known as much for his good looks and charisma as for his talent. Given his liking for turf and distance, and with his pedigree displaying outstanding results in Australia, there is no doubt Americain will be a success at stud, and hopefully one day emulate and even surpass his champion sire, Dynaformer.
