Swettenham Draft to Steal the Show at Inglis

At the upcoming Inglis Great Southern Sale, Swettenham Stud will proudly offer an impressive draft of promising youngsters and proven mares to the local buying bench.
With 34 lots to be presented for sale, split evenly between the weanlings and the broodmares, it will undoubtedly be a busy sale for the Nagambie farm.
With parades for the weanlings in Barn D well underway, Brian Gorman, Swettenham’s Operations Manager points out some of the standout lots from the 2017 draft.
“Our weanlings as a group are very high quality. The photos give you an idea of how good they are, but you need to come down and see them for yourself.”
“Adam (Sangster) and I went through the whole draft this morning and we agreed that we certainly were not going to be giving any away. They are just too nice, there are some smashing weanlings here.”
“Lot 11 is a strong, well put together colt out of The Gem, a typical high standard Toronado foal, Lot 258 is a handsome well balanced American colt out of Diary Entry, who will grow into a lovely yearling and Lot 350 out of the General Nediym mare Lady of Dormello is an excellent representation of Puissance De Lune, showing the quality that he delivers. These three weanlings are a great advertisement for our stallions.”
Additionally, Swettenham Stud will offer the last of the Stratheden Stud horses to be sold, three well-bred weanlings on behalf of the Marheine family.
Lot 161 is a good-looking, athletic All Too Hard filly from the mare, Assertive Sound. From the family of Stratheden Stud’s foundation broodmare, Sommes Sound, the blue blood producer of Group 1 galloper, Assertive Lad and the outstanding filly, Assertive Lass, who in turn produced the top sire, Reset.
Lot 204 is an outstanding colt by More Than Ready from the well-performed stakes placed mare, Calming Influence. “There are not many weanlings of his standard, and he will be a popular boy come sale time.”
Lot 228 is a flashy Sebring filly from the dam Christmas Day. A lovely bodied foal, coupled with a strong “Assertive” pedigree, she will certainly appeal to astute buyers as a worthy investment.
Master of Design is currently on fire on the racetrack with four winners in the last six days, and is well represented with four weanlings in the draft. With the current run of success they are sure to be popular with buyers during the inspections.
Buyers who are looking for well-bred broodmares, with commercial matings will be attracted to two top quality mares in foal to Toronado.
Lot 554, Tyanna, is a Fastnet Rock mare, beautifully bred out of the Desert Sun, Group 2 winning mare Lacey Underall, and Lot 657, Essayez, by Excellent Art is from the Rock Of Gibraltar mare, Schuckmannsburg.
Boasting one of the strongest families in the studbook is Lot 572, Another Sunday. By Redoute’s Choice, she is out of the Sunday Silence mare, Bella Sunday, who offers an attractive commercial mating, being in foal to Puissance De Lune.
