It’s a busy time of year at Swettenham Stud with the breeding season just around the corner.

The first foals are being born, the stallions have arrived from the northern hemisphere, and every one is looking forward to the start of the racing season.

Mare owners are now turning their full attention to mating plans, and for those not yet committed to a match, Swettenham’s upcoming open days give breeders the opportunity to see their outstanding lineup of stallions in the flesh, offering speed and stamina, value and quality, with colonial and international bloodlines.

This year Swettenham is excited to introduce two new stallions to their 2017 roster. The outstanding tough and sound Group 1 sprinter Rebel Dane and for the first time seen in Australia, the elite and versatile dual Group 1 champion and the highest earning entire of Medaglia d’Oro, Mshawish.

Complementing the two new boys in the barn, is the impressive Melbourne Cup champion Americain, the highly sort after dual Group 1 winner Toronado, along with VOBIS Golden Boy Trust In A Gust and the stunning grey son of Shamardal, Puissance De Lune.

As always, to the delight of the crowd, some of the new foals of the season will be shown, entertaining all with their cheeky frolics and playful antics.

Touted by many as the best open day on offer, the team at Swettenham is renowned for their warm welcome and outstanding hospitality, ensuring all guests are well fed with delicious homemade food and warmed up with their famous hot soup.

Swettenham Stud’s principal Adam Sangster, a loyal supporter and advocate of the Victorian breeding industry, is inviting potential breeders to come and see the farm over three weekends, coinciding with other Victorian stud open days.

An example of how the Victorian breeding industry works together, the Woodside Park Stud stallion parade will be held before the Swettenham open day at 11am on the 20th August and Godolphin Northwood will have their parade before Swettenham’s gates open at 10.30am on the 3rd September.

Swettenham Stud will also offer a stand-alone stallion parade by appointment only at 12pm on the 27th of August.

Accompanying the first weekend is the 2017 Mitchelton Wines Chocolate Festival, a wonderful day out for all the family.

Additionally, Swettenham Stud has secured a cellar door discount of 10% off wine purchases from Mitchelton Wines for guests following each open day.

So please bring your family, friends, co-owners and fellow breeders along to Swettenham Stud and make the most of three delightful weekends in Nagambie, the true heart and soul of the Victorian thoroughbred breeding industry.
