European Champion Shamardal is continuing to work his magic on Australian racetracks with the exciting Lindsay Park galloper Vega Magic heading towards The Everest, after his outstanding fourth straight win in the Group 1 Memsie.

With Vega Magic’s sire, Lope De Vega, now standing now solely at Ballylinch Stud in Ireland for €50,000, Swettenham son of Shamardal, Puissance De Lune enables mare owners the opportunity to tap into these highly revered international bloodlines.

Following Swettenham’s mantra of “the best of the best”, the dashing grey entire is currently the best performed son of Shamardal on Australian tracks to stand at stud in this country.

This coupled with Puissance De Lune’s incredible presence and striking looks, he is certainly the right horse to fly the “Shamardal” flag and allow breeders access to the Giant’s Causeway and Storm Cat pedigrees at a competitive and accessible price.

Puissance De Lune was an Irish-bred, French-imported galloper. A two-time Group 2 winner, and a two-time Group 1 runner-up he secured an incredible five placings at Group 1 level. Only narrowly beaten in two head-bobbers, it proved how competitive and consistent he was at the pinnacle of Australian racing.

The handsome chestnut galloper, is bred and raced by West Australian brothers Wally and George Daly. They are proud to be flying the flag for sons of Shamardal at stud with Vega Magic being their first Group 1 winner as breeders.

Gilgai Farm offered the top priced Puissance De Lune weanling from the Group 2 placed mare, Anatomica, purchased for $80,000 by Damon Gabbady’s Belmont Bloodstock, and Gilgai Farm’s manager Kelly Skillecorn was impressed by the foal from the start.

“He was exceptional from the day he was born, and at the sale all the good judges were on him. They gave me good feedback that he was as nice a type as any horse in the sale. Puissance De Lune as a stallion is a no-brainer, he had such a high profile as a racehorse, and Australian breeders can relate to him.”

Mares in foal to Puissance De Lune have also been popular, with Another Sunday, boasting one of the strongest families in the studbook, selling to good judge Bill Mitchell. Sold in the Swettenham Stud draft for $60,000 she was by Redoute’s Choice out of the Sunday Silence mare, Bella Sunday.
